Side by Side (Chris Kenneally, 2012)
The documentary was about Keanu Reeves interviewing many directors, cinematographers, actors editors and many other workers within the film industry about their thoughts on both film cameras and digital cameras.
There were Strong opinions about both of the cameras, many cinematographers we very much against the digital cameras and siding with the film camera. Some directors such as George Lucas were siding with the digital cameras as he used them in Star Wars 2: Attack of the Clones (2002). Once he used these, it was not too long before other directors started using digital cameras.
What I had learned from these cameras is that using film cameras and digital cameras capture images differently.
The film camera uses light to capture images on a special tape called 'film' which the editing with these can take a very long time, roughly a whole day. the director will then watch the footage so see if it is any good about two days after to footage was shot.
The digital camera uses light to create an image and save it to a memory chip which can be viewed just after shooting a scene to get a quick look to see if anything would need changing. The editing with these is also a whole lot more easier thn it is using film.
Personally, I would have to side with using digital cameras as they seem more advanced and easier to use and I think that it has made a huge difference to the whole filming industry.
